Cerec
CEREC is a state-of-the-art system that enables us to fabricate and fit a new crown, veneer, or inlay in a single visit
We can offer you a new false tooth made and fitted during a single visit within one hour known as CEREC.
What is CEREC?
CEREC is a state-of-the-art system that enables us to fabricate and fit a new crown, veneer, or inlay in a single visit, a procedure that would normally take weeks.
How does it work?
We will prepare your tooth in the normal way before fitting a crown or a veneer. At this point instead of using "dental putty" to take an impression of your tooth, a digital image is taken using a special camera. This image is then converted into a 3D computerised model of your tooth, which is used as a guide to design your new restoration.
Once we are happy with the newly designed tooth, the data is sent to our milling machine, which fabricates your new tooth from a high quality ceramic block. This process can take as little as 5 minutes depending on the complexity of the tooth.
The complexities of this procedure are threefold. First is the time taken to have this successfully implanted, which requires a considerable amount of patience. The second is the invasiveness of the procedure. This can be an intrusive process and may not always be the best course of action.
We can match your own teeth from a variety of shades and colours. Your new restoration will then be cemented into place onto your prepared tooth.
What are the benefits of CEREC?
There are several advantages to having treatment with CEREC over traditional laboratory made restorations:
Every thing is carried out in a single visit at our surgery; you will only need to visit us once.
Only one set of local anaesthetic injections is required as the entire procedure can be carried out within one hour you only need to have one lot of injections. Since the crown or veneer is designed and fabricated from start to finish by us at our practice, we have total control over how it will look and fit. No temporary measures! - If you have lab made veneers you would require temporary veneers during the wait whilst your new teeth are being made be a technician. These have been known to fall off and cause problems, but with CEREC these issues have been omitted.
