Drill-Less Fillings

At The Ware Centre Of Dental Excellence we can offer patients drill-less fillings. This involves the use of a miniature sandblaster like instrument that sprays a chalky like, non-toxic abrasive powder. This is propelled against the tooth and is precise and gentle. This process efficiently leaves the undecayed areas of your tooth intact to preserve your natural enamel and healthy tooth structure.
 
The air abrasion is perfect for children, because with regular check ups the decay can be located early and often it can be treated without injections or the noisy drill sounds.

Advantages

Limitations

• Can only be used with small cavities not in deep decay
• Cannot be used for root canals or crown preparation or gum treatment
• Only tooth coloured fillings can be used not silver or amalgam
• Dental drill may still be needed to complete the preparation
• Leaves a powdery residue after treatment which is suctioned out
